Taipei-Bali Direct Flight to Resume in October 2026, Boosting Taiwanese Tourism
Bali's governor has welcomed plans to reopen a direct Taipei-Bali flight route, expressing hope for increased Taiwanese tourist arrivals. A Starlux aircraft is scheduled to make its inaugural flight on October 1, 2026, marking the route's reopening after a hiatus.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster has expressed hope that the reopening of a direct flight route between Taipei and Bali will have a positive impact on the island's tourism sector. Speaking during a meeting in Denpasar City, Koster met with David Wen-Chiun Lin, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Surabaya, emphasizing that air connectivity is key to expanding Bali's access to international tourism markets.
The reopened direct flight will be operated by Starlux Airlines, with the inaugural flight scheduled to arrive in Bali on October 1, 2026. Koster has expressed interest in attending the ceremony marking this occasion.
TETO's Lin explained that the reopening would improve travel time efficiency and comfort for Taiwanese travelers, noting that Taiwan has strong enthusiasm for overseas travel and that Bali has significant potential to tap into this demand.
In addition to discussing the flight route, the two sides exchanged views on matters concerning Taiwanese nationals who visit or reside in Bali, agreeing that tourism remains among the most strategic tools for strengthening cooperation and people-to-people ties between the two regions.
