DENPASAR (Antara) - Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport handled a smoke incident on Thursday night, originating from a commercial stall on the second floor of the international terminal. According to Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, Head of the Communication and Legal Division at Ngurah Rai Airport, smoke was first spotted around 9:57 PM local time (WITA), and the source was confirmed to be one of the commercial stalls in the area.
Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) officers, assisted by other airport staff, responded quickly, directing passengers and airport users away from the location so the situation could be properly handled. Thanks to this swift response, no injuries were reported, and airport operations as well as services to passengers continued to run normally.
All handling procedures were completed by 10:13 PM the same night. The airport is now conducting service recovery efforts while awaiting further information on the cause of the smoke. Airport management apologized to all users for the inconvenience caused and urged passengers not to panic but to follow the directions of staff on site.
