Sabdha Kite Festival Draws 1,851 Participants in Badung's Pecatu Village
The 6th Sabdha Kite Festival was held in Pecatu Village, Badung Regency, with the Badung Regent providing support. Participation grew to 1,851 people across 14 categories, about 200 more than last year, as the event aims to preserve Balinese culture and promote local tourism.
On August 2, 2026, Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa attended the opening of the 6th Sabdha Kite Festival, organized by the Bakti Darma Youth Association of Banjar Kangin, Pecatu Village, South Kuta District. The event took place at a field within PT. Indowisata Makmur in Pecatu.
To support youth-led cultural preservation efforts, the Regent presented a grant of Rp30 million (approximately USD 1,900) to help fund the festival's operations. The opening ceremony was also attended by local council members, the South Kuta District head, and the traditional village leader of Pecatu.
The Regent praised the festival as more than a hobby showcase, noting its potential to promote Pecatu Village as a growing tourism destination while fostering community solidarity among younger generations.
According to committee chairman Kadek Adi Widnyana, this year's sixth edition saw a rise in participation, with 1,851 people competing across 14 categories — an increase of about 200 participants compared to the previous year. Organizers hope the festival will become a permanent annual cultural agenda that strengthens Pecatu's tourism appeal.
The event is open to the public and offers foreign tourists a chance to experience traditional Balinese kite culture and the vibrancy of local community life.
