Russian National Deported from Bali After 820-Day Overstay

Denpasar Immigration Office deported a 39-year-old Russian national who had overstayed his residence permit by 820 days. The action was taken under Article 78(3) of Indonesia's Immigration Law, and officials have proposed placing him on the immigration blacklist. Bali Immigration says it is strengthening monitoring of foreign nationals' permit compliance.

Things to Consider

Foreign nationals in Bali should regularly check the expiry date of their visa or stay permit (e.g., KITAS, visa-on-arrival extensions) and track deadlines carefully, either through Indonesia's online immigration portal or a licensed agent. If a permit is nearing expiration, extend it before it lapses or plan departure accordingly. Since overstaying by more than 60 days triggers deportation and a re-entry ban, long-term visitors should schedule renewal well in advance to avoid enforcement action.
