Nusa Penida to Introduce Tourist Levy From September 1, Applies to Foreign Visitors
The Klungkung Regency government has officially announced a new tourism levy for Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan-Nusa Ceningan areas starting September 1, 2026. Foreign tourists will be charged Rp25,000 (adults) or Rp15,000 (children) upon entry, based on Regional Regulation No. 4 of 2026.
The Klungkung Regency government has formally confirmed the implementation date for a new tourism levy through a circular letter (No. B.500.11.8.4/0559/Dispar/2026) dated August 10, 2026. The levy will take effect on September 1, 2026, based on Regional Regulation No. 4 of 2026, Article II, paragraph 2.
The levy applies to all touristsāincluding foreign visitorsāentering the Nusa Penida tourism area and the Nusa Lembongan-Nusa Ceningan tourism area. The rate is Rp25,000 for adults and Rp15,000 for children.
Additionally, tourists visiting specific tourist attractions (Daya Tarik Wisata, DTW) within these areas may be charged a separate fee of the same amount (Rp25,000 for adults, Rp15,000 for children). Visitors typically travel to Nusa Penida by boat from ports such as Sanur, and the area remains a popular destination for foreign tourists.
This announcement serves as a correction (Ralat Imbauan) to previous guidance, clarifying the exact start date for the levy.
Things to Consider
When visiting Nusa Penida or Nusa Lembongan-Nusa Ceningan after September 1, 2026, prepare cash of Rp25,000 (adults) or Rp15,000 (children) for entry, plus a separate similar fee at individual tourist attractions (DTW). If booking through a tour operator, confirm in advance whether these levies are already included in the package price.
