Ngurah Rai Immigration Office Expands Jurisdiction to Cover All of Badung Regency
The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Bali has expanded its jurisdiction to include the North Badung districts of Mengwi, Abiansemal, and Petang, now covering the entire Badung Regency. As a result, foreign residents in these areas will now apply for residence permits and be subject to oversight through the Ngurah Rai office instead of the Denpasar immigration office.
Under Indonesian Immigration and Corrections Ministry Decree No. M.IP-30.OT.01.03 of 2026, the working area of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office (Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I Khusus TPI Ngurah Rai) has been expanded. Previously, the office only covered three southern Badung districts: Kuta, Kuta Utara, and Kuta Selatan. Now it also covers three northern districtsâMengwi, Abiansemal, and Petangâwhich were formerly under the jurisdiction of the Denpasar Immigration Office (Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I TPI Denpasar).
Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Muhamad Novyandri, said the expanded jurisdiction comes with greater responsibility for providing residence permit services to foreign nationals, as well as strengthening supervision and enforcement across the entire Badung Regency. He noted the office will strengthen coordination with the Badung regional government, law enforcement, and district/village authorities to ensure smooth implementation.
The change does not affect passport application servicesâIndonesian citizens can still apply for passports at any immigration office nationwide regardless of domicile.
Things to Consider
Foreign residents living in Mengwi, Abiansemal, or Petang (North Badung) should confirm the correct immigration office for residence permit (KITAS/KITAP) renewals, new applications, or address changes before their next visit, as these may now be processed at the Ngurah Rai office instead of Denpasar. If you already have an appointment or pending application filed under the old jurisdiction, contact the relevant office in advance to verify where to proceed.
