Kuta Utara 'Three Pillars' Joint Patrol Steps Up Security in Canggu
A joint patrol dubbed the 'Three Pillars'—comprising Indonesia's military, police, and municipal enforcement (Satpol PP)—was conducted in Bali's Canggu area within Kuta Utara district. Officers patrolled cafes, parking areas, and tourist routes to monitor security threats, bylaw violations, and illegal street racing.
On Saturday night, September 5, 2026, at around 10 p.m. local time, a joint patrol called the 'Three Pillars' (Tiga Pilar)—bringing together Indonesia's military (TNI), police (Polri), and municipal enforcement officers (Satpol PP)—was carried out in the Canggu area of Kuta Utara district, Bali. Led by Police Inspector Gede Wirata, head of the Community Guidance Unit at Kuta Utara Police Station, the operation aimed to create a safe, comfortable, and orderly tourism environment for both visitors and local residents.
The patrol covered busy spots including cafes, restaurants, parking areas, and roads frequented by tourists in Canggu. Officers focused on potential security disturbances, violations of local bylaws, intimidation or extortion-style behavior ('premanisme'), and illegal street racing.
Kuta Utara Police Chief Comr. I Ketut Sukadana said the initiative demonstrates the government's tangible presence in maintaining security stability at tourist destinations. "Through this Three Pillars patrol, we want to give a sense of security to both domestic and international tourists. Canggu, as a barometer of Bali tourism, must remain safe and orderly," he said.
During the patrol, officers also engaged in friendly dialogue with business owners, vendors, and tourists, urging them to maintain public order, avoid consuming alcohol in public spaces, and respect local Balinese customs and norms. The head of Kuta Utara sub-district added that this collaborative patrol effort would continue on a regular basis.
Meanwhile, Satpol PP officers also enforced compliance with operating hours and proper use of public facilities. The joint patrol has been welcomed by residents and tourism business operators, who hope such activities continue to help protect the reputation of Bali's tourism industry, particularly in Canggu.
