Japanese Action Film 'Unso Dragon' Wins Seven Awards at Bali Cultural Exchange Film Festival

On September 12, the 'Festival Film Pertukaran Budaya Bali' (Bali Cultural Exchange Film Festival) was held in Bali, Indonesia. The Japanese action film 'Unso Dragon - Powered Human Battle Courier,' produced by Nara City tourism ambassador Shinsaku Tokumaru and directed by and starring action actor Ken Daito, won seven awards out of 17 entries, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay, Audience Award, and Special Jury Prize. Tokumaru also received the Cultural Exchange Contribution Award and the Cultural Arts Honor Award for his role as producer and supporting actor.

The film is characterized by 'power-based action' that relies on the physicality, weight, and impact of the human body rather than CGI, reflecting a theme Daito has pursued for over 35 years as an action actor. The Bali exchange extended beyond the festival screening to include showings at local educational institutions and a commemorative tree planting, forming part of a broader cultural exchange between Japan and Indonesia through film.
