Democrat Party Cleans Ulun Danu Beratan Temple Area, Releases Fish Fry into Lake

On July 31, 2026, members of Bali's Democrat Party branches, including the Tabanan chapter, gathered around Ulun Danu Beratan Temple in Candikuning Village, Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency, to hold an environmental campaign called the 'Blue Sky Movement,' marking the party's 25th anniversary. About 200 party cadres participated in litter cleanup at the tourist area and released thousands of fish fry into Lake Beratan.

According to Made Mudarta, head of the Democrat Party's Bali branch, the movement is conducted nationwide every Friday under the party leadership's instruction and aligns with the government's 'Indonesia Asri' (Beautiful Indonesia) initiative. He emphasized that Lake Beratan, as a globally recognized tourist attraction, must remain clean, and that waste management remains a major challenge amid intense global tourism competition.

I Wayan Adnyana, head of the Tabanan branch, explained that the activity is part of the party's 'Laskar Biru Demokrat' program celebrating its anniversary, aiming not only to clean the area but also to enrich the lake's fish population for the benefit of local residents.

For tourists and expatriates, Lake Beratan and Ulun Danu Temple remain one of Bali's most popular destinations, and such ongoing environmental efforts help maintain the scenic quality that draws visitors. The event itself did not involve any road closures or restrictions affecting travelers.
