Bali's Trans Metro Dewata Offers Special Rp1,000 Fare Throughout August
Bank Indonesia's Bali office, in cooperation with the Bali Transportation Agency, is offering a special Rp1,000 fare (down from the normal Rp4,400) for passengers using QRIS Tap payment on the Trans Metro Dewata and Trans Sarbagita public buses throughout August 2026, to mark Indonesia's 81st Independence Day and Bali Province's 68th anniversary. The discount is limited to 300 riders per day, so early boarding is advised for those wanting to take advantage of it.
Bank Indonesia's (BI) Bali representative office head, Achris Sarwani, announced that throughout August 2026, passengers on the Trans Metro Dewata and Trans Sarbagita public transport services will be able to enjoy a special fare of Rp1,000 when paying via QRIS Tap. The normal single-trip fare is Rp4,400, meaning the discount amounts to Rp3,400.
The program, run in cooperation with the Bali Provincial Transportation Agency, marks the 81st anniversary of Indonesian Independence and the 68th anniversary of Bali Province. It also serves as part of a campaign to promote the use of QRIS Tap, a contactless digital payment feature.
The discounted fare is available to a maximum of 300 passengers per day — 250 for Trans Metro Dewata and 50 for Trans Sarbagita.
Trans Metro Dewata operates six round-trip corridors:
- Kuta Central Parking – Pesiapan Terminal
- Ubung Terminal – Ngurah Rai Airport Domestic Arrivals
- Ubung Terminal – Bali Icon Mall
- Ubung Terminal – Monkey Forest Central Parking
- Kuta Central Parking – Bali State Polytechnic
- Kuta Central Parking – Nusa Dua Central Parking
For tourists and expats, this offers a low-cost way to reach Ngurah Rai International Airport and other key destinations across southern Bali.
Things to Consider
If you plan to travel to/from the airport or between Kuta and Ubung during August, set up a QRIS-compatible payment method (an Indonesian bank app or e-wallet) beforehand to take advantage of the Rp1,000 fare. Since only 300 discounted rides are available per day, arrive early (e.g., in the morning) to avoid missing out. Travelers without a QRIS account should register and top up an e-wallet in advance.
