Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport Confirms Bomb Threat Was a Hoax, Operations Normal
Management of Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport confirmed that a bomb threat circulated via electronic message on the night of August 2, 2026, was false. After following standard security procedures, authorities found no credible basis for the threat, and airport operations and services have continued normally and safely.
Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, Head of the Communication and Legal Division at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, announced that a bomb threat message that spread electronically around 9:58 p.m. local time on August 2, 2026, was confirmed to be false after standard verification procedures.
The airport's security committee and relevant agencies immediately activated standard threat-response procedures, but investigations found no evidence supporting the threat. As a result, flight operations and airport services have continued to run safely and normally since that evening.
Airport management urged travelers and the public to remain calm and avoid believing or spreading unverified information. Officials also warned that creating or spreading false threat information about the airport is a legal violation subject to sanctions under Indonesian law, noting that the airport is a designated vital national facility under strict security protocols. Authorities said they will continue coordinating with relevant agencies and provide updates through official communication channels.
