Bali's Minikino Film Week 2026 Selects 122 Shorts from 60 Countries for September Festival

Bali's international short film festival, Minikino Film Week, will hold its 12th edition across eight days, from September 11 to 18, 2026, with Denpasar serving as the main hub for screenings held throughout Bali.

Organisers announced that from 1,454 short films submitted worldwide, a multi-stage selection process resulted in 122 films from 60 countries being named to the Official Selection. Fiction makes up the largest share of the programme at approximately 59.46%, followed by animation (20.27%), documentary (9.91%), experimental works (8.11%), and docufiction (2.25%).

Beyond the international Official Selection, the festival's broader programme—including Indonesia's national short-film exchange Indonesia Raja 2026, Southeast Asian regional programmes, and invited selections—will bring the total to 202 short films across 42 screening programmes.

Core screening venues include MASH Denpasar Art House Cinema, Rumah Tanjung Bungkak, and Dharma Negara Alaya, with additional community screenings extending across other locations in Bali. International competition films must hold their Indonesian premiere at the festival to be award-eligible.

The festival will also host its eighth Short Film Market, bringing together filmmakers, producers and programmers for talks, workshops and networking. Its filmmaker development initiative, Shorts Up 2026, selected five projects from 43 applications.
