Indonesian authorities are advancing a water taxi project linking Ngurah Rai International Airport to Canggu, along with a 15.6km road network and a 4.7km Berawa shortcut in Badung Regency to ease traffic congestion. Property and hospitality developer Murino Group has opened a new office in Canggu's Berawa area, citing growing investment momentum in the region.
The Indonesian government is advancing plans for a water taxi service connecting Ngurah Rai International Airport to Canggu by sea, aiming to cut travel time from the current 1-2 hours by road to approximately 30 minutes. Construction is scheduled to run from August 2026 to July 2027, with the project intended to ease severe traffic congestion in southern Bali.
In parallel, Badung Regency is set to break ground in 2026 on a large-scale road project totaling 15.6 kilometers, targeting congestion in South Badung. Additionally, a 4.7km "Berawa shortcut" — a 10-meter-wide road running from Berawa through Umalas, Banjar Semer, and Kedampal to Jalan Teuku Umar Barat — is targeted for completion by December 2026.
Amid this infrastructure push, property and hospitality developer Murino Group opened a new office called Murino Gallery in Canggu's Berawa area on July 31, 2026. CEO Efrat Tio said rising tourist numbers, increased investment, and growing demand for residential and hospitality properties are key drivers of sector growth in 2026. The office launch was supported by BYD, ALVA, BRI, and Bank Mandiri.
