Bali Police Step Up Efforts to Protect Foreign Tourists from Scams and Crime
As the number of foreign tourists visiting Bali increases, cases of investment scams, sexual harassment, and even kidnapping or murder targeting foreign nationals have been reported. Bali Police announced they are strengthening early detection, patrols in tourist areas, and coordination with accommodation providers and local communities to prevent such incidents.
On August 19, Bali Police spokesperson AKBP Rina Isriana Dewi stated that a growing number of foreign nationals (WNA) visiting Bali have fallen victim to crimes including investment fraud, sexual harassment, theft, violence, and even kidnapping and murder. The Bali Police Chief has instructed all district police stations to strengthen early detection, patrols, and surveillance in tourist areas, map high-risk locations, and improve rapid response to reports involving foreign nationals.
The police are also reinforcing coordination with tourism industry stakeholders, local governments, accommodation operators, and communities, alongside ongoing education and awareness efforts. All reports received will reportedly be handled professionally, transparently, and in accordance with the law, with attention to victims' rights.
This announcement is not tied to a specific incident but represents a broader policy statement aimed at maintaining international confidence in Bali's tourism safety.
