Bali Police Chief Changes: Insp. Gen. Pasma Royce Takes Over as New Police Chief
Bali's police chief has changed from Insp. Gen. Daniel Adityajaya to Insp. Gen. Pasma Royce following an official handover ceremony at National Police Headquarters. The change is described as part of routine organizational refreshment, and no major shift in Bali's security operations is expected.
Indonesia's National Police held an official handover ceremony at its headquarters in Jakarta on October 9, 2026, marking the transfer of leadership of the Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali) from Insp. Gen. Daniel Adityajaya, who had led the force for over two years, to Insp. Gen. Pasma Royce.
The ceremony was led by National Police Chief Gen. Suyudi Ario Seto and included the signing of the handover report, an oath of office, and signing of an integrity pact. A Bali Police spokesperson described the change as part of routine personnel rotation within the National Police aimed at organizational renewal and improving performance in maintaining public security and order.
Pasma Royce previously served as Deputy Police Chief of East Java province. As Bali is an internationally prominent tourist destination requiring tailored security arrangements, coordination across agencies and personnel readiness remain key priorities under the new leadership. Meanwhile, Daniel Adityajaya has been reassigned to a senior position within the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim). He had taken over as Bali Police Chief on July 29, 2024.
This leadership change is a routine administrative matter and is not expected to bring immediate changes to security policy or visitor-facing procedures in Bali.
Things to Consider
This leadership change does not directly affect daily procedures for tourists or residents, so no immediate action is required. However, as policy priorities may shift under new leadership (e.g., traffic enforcement or visa compliance checks), it is advisable to periodically check local news and updates from your embassy or consulate in Indonesia.
