Bali Friendship Hockey Festival Boosts Sport Tourism in Seminyak

The Bali Friendship Hockey Festival was held on September 12-13, 2026 at Lapangan Banteng in Seminyak, Badung Regency, Bali. According to Dr. Anak Agung Ngurah Jayakusuma, head of the Indonesian Hockey Federation (FHI) Bali chapter, the event served as both a festival and tournament bringing together players from nearly all regions of Indonesia along with international participants.

This year's edition featured teams from Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore, alongside domestic teams and players from Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya. Within Bali itself, six regencies/cities—Badung, Denpasar, Jembrana, Gianyar, Tabanan, and Buleleng—now have their own hockey teams.

Organizers stated the two-day event aimed to strengthen collaboration among athletes and officials, improve professional playing standards, and foster international exchange. Maryoto Subekti, Deputy Chairman I of Bali's KONI (Indonesian National Sports Committee), praised the festival's year-on-year growth, citing rising participant numbers and enthusiasm as positive indicators.

FHI Bali also highlighted the sport tourism angle, noting that the presence of domestic and international participants indirectly benefits Bali's tourism sector, as visiting athletes also have the opportunity to explore the island's tourist destinations during their stay.
