AirAsia Expands to Europe via New Codeshare Partnership with Pegasus Airlines
Malaysia's AirAsia has announced its first codeshare partnership with Turkey's Pegasus Airlines, allowing Southeast Asian travelers, including those from Indonesia, easier access to five European destinations via Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul. The partnership will eventually cover over 100 routes between Asia and Europe.
On Wednesday in Selangor, Malaysia, budget carrier AirAsia announced its first codeshare partnership with Turkey's largest low-cost carrier, Pegasus Airlines. The partnership aims to provide Southeast Asian travelers, including those from Indonesia, with more practical connections to European destinations via Istanbul.
Indonesian travelers can fly with Indonesia AirAsia to Kuala Lumpur, then continue their journey through the combined AirAsia and Pegasus Airlines network to various European cities in a more integrated travel experience. This offers a new option for travelers from Indonesia, including Bali, heading to Europe.
In the initial phase, connectivity will cover five European destinations: Stansted (London), Vnukovo (Moscow), Esenboga (Ankara), Zurich (Switzerland), and Athens (Greece). Passengers can travel from Kuala Lumpur to these destinations via Istanbul.
To further strengthen Asia-Europe connectivity, AirAsia will increase flight frequency on the Kuala Lumpur-Istanbul (KUL-SAW) route from four to seven times a week starting February 2027. Eventually, the combined AirAsia and Pegasus network is expected to open access to more than 100 routes between Asia and Europe.

Travelers in Bali or Indonesia planning trips to Europe should compare routes via Indonesia AirAsia to Kuala Lumpur, then connecting through Istanbul to one of the five European cities. When booking, check connection times and visa requirements, including any transit visa rules for passing through Turkey. Since the increased KUL-SAW frequency starts only in February 2027, travelers before that date should verify current flight schedules on the airline's official website.
