7th Tanah Lot Festival Kicks Off in Tabanan, Drawing Crowds with Traditional Dance and Sunset Views
The 7th Tanah Lot Festival opened on August 28, 2026, at the Tanah Lot tourist area in Tabanan, Bali. The first day featured traditional dances from nine customary villages, a Gebogan offering parade, and a sunset music event, attracting large crowds of tourists and locals alike, along with numerous local food and small business stalls.
The 7th Tanah Lot Festival officially opened on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Tanah Lot tourist area in Tabanan Regency, Bali. This year's theme, "Tabanan as a Gathering Point" for Balinese arts and culture, drew large crowds from the very first day.
The opening ceremony was led by Tabanan Deputy Regent I Made Dirga, who afterward toured the festival's culinary and small business (UMKM) stalls, sampling local dishes and praising the community's active involvement in the event as a way to boost the local economy.
The main attraction on day one was the Cultural Stage, where nine customary villagesāJadi, Cempaka, Mundeh, Batan Pole, Pandak Bandung, Abian Tuwung, Kelaci Kelod, Dalem Yangapi, and Berabanāperformed traditional dances. The host village, Beraban, drew particular attention with a Gebogan offering parade featuring towers over two meters tall, accompanied by a lively Beleganjur percussion performance.
In the evening, the "Sunset in Paradise" music event added to the festivities, with local musicians, including singer Jun Bintang, performing against the backdrop of Tanah Lot Temple and the orange sunset sky, encouraging visitors to sing along.
The festival will continue for several more days, featuring a variety of art, music, and culinary programs. Food stalls, craft vendors, and local agricultural product booths are also drawing steady crowds, offering visitors a chance to experience Tabanan's culture and cuisine firsthand.
