47 Indonesian Hotels Named in Michelin Keys 2026, Including Many Bali Luxury Resorts
A record 47 Indonesian hotels and resorts have been included in the Michelin Keys 2026 list, up sharply from 33 the previous year, making Indonesia the second-ranked country in Southeast Asia after Thailand. Many Bali properties, including Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, were among the top-rated hotels, which Indonesia's Tourism Minister said reflects the growing quality of the country's hospitality industry.
Indonesia's hospitality industry received significant international recognition after 47 of its hotels and resorts were named in the Michelin Guide's Michelin Keys 2026 list, published on September 18, 2026. This marks a substantial jump from 33 properties the previous year and sets a new record, placing Indonesia as the second-ranked country in Southeast Asia for Michelin Key-holding hotels, behind only Thailand.
The Michelin Keys award evaluates approximately 9,000 properties worldwide based on criteria including design and aesthetics, architectural harmony with the surrounding environment, service quality, staff hospitality, the property's unique character, and its ability to deliver an authentic local experience.
Three Indonesian properties received the top rating of 3 Keys ("An Extraordinary Stay"): Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Ubud, Bali; Nihi Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara; and Amanjiwo in Magelang, Central Java.
Eleven properties earned 2 Keys ("An Exceptional Stay"), including several Bali resorts such as Amankila, The Sanchaya, The Apurva Kempinski Bali, Soori Bali, Capella Ubud, Bvlgari Resort Bali, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Buahan (a Banyan Tree Escape), and Raffles Bali.
An additional 33 properties received 1 Key ("A Very Special Stay"), with many Bali-based hotels represented, including COMO Shambhala Estate, Amandari, Viceroy Bali, Desa Potato Head Bali, and Cap Karoso.
Separately, several Indonesian properties—including Desa Potato Head, Nihi Sumba, and Mandapa—were also named to The World's 50 Best Hotels 2026 list. Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said the recognitions reflect the growing competitiveness of Indonesia's hospitality sector and urged industry players to use the momentum to further strengthen service quality and sustainability.
